The first step in our NEW scholarship process, for first time applicants, is to submit an LOI (Letter of Intent) form, which is a preliminary evaluation. This is so we can determine if you are eligible to receive funding before completing a full application.

DUNBAR ROTARY SCHOLARSHIP FUND

A gift from Morris W. Dunbar in honor of his wife, establishing a scholarship fund for students interested in a career in nursing.

SCHLOOT ROTARY SCHOLARSHIP FUND

A gift from Normal Jean Schloot, establishing a scholarship fund for students interested in education or agriculture.

EARHART ROTARY SCHOLARSHIP FUND

Established as a memorial to Richard Earhart to provide scholarships to individuals selected by the Rotary Club of Mount Dora.

Scholarships for MDHS or MDCA Students

 

ROUND LAKE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP

Created by Round Lake Elementary to accept gifts to be utilized by Round Lake students for higher education.


W. T. BLAND, JR. SCHOLARSHIP


For Undergraduate College Students

The W.T. Bland Junior Charitable Fund is a scholarships for students the second, third and fourth years of undergraduate study. Emphasis is also given to vocational training and community college education. A recipient may reapply, through undergraduate studies, as long as their attendance and Grade Point Average (GPA) are appropriate to their degree goals.


Eligibility Requirements:

  • Mount Dora Christian Academy or Mount Dora High students who have completed their first year of college.
  • Priority will be given to students enrolling in Community College or Technical school.

AILEEN JOINER SCHOLARSHIP

Ms. Joiner established a scholarship fund for post-high school education at a University within the State of Florida. The scholarship is to be awarded to a senior of Mount Dora High School or Mount Dora Christian Academy and is renewable.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Scholarships are to be utilized at institutions of higher learning within the State of Florida.
  • Enrolled as a full-time student with at least twelve (12) credit house per semester (excluding summer sessions)
  • High school senior at Mount Dora High School or Christian Home and Bible School

JOEL AND ANNA SEE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Established by Dr. and Mrs. See to provide financial assistance to Mount Dora High School graduates who wish to pursue a medical career. Scholarships are renewable through four years of college for full-time students who continue to meet the scholarship qualifications.
Eligibility Requirements:

  • Graduating senior from Mount Dora High or Mount Dora Christian Academy
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Financial Need
  • Pursing a degree in the field of medicine
  • Enrolled as a full-time student with at least twelve (12) credit hours per semester (excluding summer sessions).

Scholarships for ONLY MDHS Students

 

COMMUNITY SERVICE SCHOLARSHIP

Provides a scholarship opportunity for Mount Dora High School senior who has volunteered at least 75 hours of community service. Special consideration will be given to those students who volunteer for the Mount Dora Art Festival and/or Mount Dora Craft Fair.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Minimum GPA 3.0
  • Mount Dora High School Senior
  • Financial Need
  • 75 hours minimum of volunteer service

DENNIS JUNIOR GOLF SCHOLARSHIP

Established by the Dennis family in memory of James O. Dennis and his brother, Thomas Dennis, for the promotion of Junior Golf in Mount Dora. The scholarship is awarded to a Mount Dora High School graduate with a "B" average or higher who has participated in the Junior Golf team.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Graduating senior from Mount Dora High School
  • Member of the High School Golf team (Male or Female)
  • 3.0 GPA minimum
  • Recommendation by the Mount Dora High School Golf Coach

JOHN LIPTAK, JR. BASKETBALL SCHOLARSHIP

This fund was established by family and friends of John Liptak, Jr. He was well known for his support of the basketball team at Mount Dora High School, where his son, John III coaches. The fund provides scholarships to Mount Dora High School students and is awarded for their second year of college.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Member of the MDHS Varsity Basketball Team (Male or Female)
  • Academic Achievement
  • Excels in School Spirit, leadership and dependability
  • College bound to an accredited institution

KELLY BODNARUK MEMORIAL FUND

Established in honor of Kelly Anne Elizabeth Bodnaruk, a Mount Dora High School senior when she passed away in a car accident in 2004. Kelly’s memorial provides a college scholarship to a Mount Dora High School senior and a creativity grant to a Mount Dora High School junior to attend a summer program or camp.


LIZ PERRETT SCHOLARSHIP FUND

Established by Mount Dora High School students in memory of Liz Perrett and supported by high school activities to provide one scholarship annually to a graduating senior.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Graduating senior from Mount Dora High School
  • Excels in school spirit, leadership, dependability
  • Academic achievement
  • College bound to an accredited college or university

SUSAN WEINSTOCK MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship was made possible by the family, friends, and colleagues of Susan Weinstock, former art teacher at Mount Dora High School, who died of lung cancer in July 2002 at age 59. The scholarship will be awarded to a senior from Mount Dora High School who will be pursuing an art education degree following graduation from high school.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Graduating senior from Mount Dora High School
  • Recommendation by the Mount Dora High School Art Department

NATASHA ARANO MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

THIS FUND IS TEMPORARILY NOT ACCEPTING ANY NEW SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS.


Eligibility Requirements: This Scholarship recognizes a student with financial need, and who has a strong commitment to serve their school, community, and their church missionary activities. They will attend Lake Sumter State College. Preference will be given to the academic study of education, social work, or marriage counseling

  • An essay outlining personal goals and how you would use your life experience to better other's lives.
  • 3 letters of recommendation
  • Involved in extra curricular activities
  • Involved in their Church missionary activities
  • GPA of 2.5 or better
  • Must be planning to attend LSSC

Scholarship for All Area Schools

 

ORVAL HAGERTY SCHOLARSHIP FUND

Provides college scholarships to local students who require financial assistance to pursue a higher education. Scholarships may be renewed annually up to four years, provided the student maintains a job and satisfactory grade point average.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Live in the Central Florida area for over 2 years prior to graduation
  • Must have a financial need to work both during the school term and summer while completing their degree
  • Maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA
  • Full-time course load in college

MARY E. BEACOM MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Mary Beacom, a nurse, provided funds to be used for charitable purposes following her death. To accomplish this, her Trustee established the memorial fund in her honor to provide scholarships for local high school graduates interested in healthcare careers, with preference given to those attending trade or technical schools.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Financial Need
  • Recipients will be local to the Mount Dora area and have or will receive a high school diploma or a G.E.D.
  • Priority will be given to applicants pursuing healthcare training in the medical technical field, primarily, but not limited to technician, transcriptionist, nurse, therapists, CNA, etc. If awards cannot be made in these areas, funds may then be awarded to students pursuing a baccalaureate degree in the medical field.

MIKE STONE MEMORIAL SOCCER SCHOLARSHIP

Established by the Lake County Soccer Club in memorial of Mr. Mike Stone. This renewable scholarship awards a scholarship to one male and one female, who have demonstrated a quality academic performance with a 3.0 minimum GPA, a passion for soccer and good sportsmanship. Eligible candidates must live in the Central Florida area and be members in good standing of the Lake County Soccer Club. Students must have participated in the Soccer Club's Development or Competitive Soccer Leagues for at least one full year.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Graduating senior from a Central Florida High School
  • Member of the Lake County Soccer Club for at least one year (Male or Female)
  • 3.0 GPA minimum
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • 500 word essay


This Scholarship is renewable based on the number of years involved in the Lake County Soccer Club.


POWERONE TECHNOLOGY FUND

THIS FUND IS TEMPORARILY NOT ACCEPTING ANY NEW SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS.


Eligibility Requirements: Fund set up by PowerOne LLC, as a repository for gifts and bequests to encourage the study of and training in the field of technology or other creative studies. Scholarships and/or grants will be provided to students from Lake and Sumter County.

  • Applicants will have 3.0 GPA or better
  • Resident of Lake or Sumter Counties
  • Pursue a degree in Technology or other areas of creative study
  • Recommended by an instructor

SYLVANNA J. KING SCHOLARSHIP

THIS FUND IS TEMPORARILY NOT ACCEPTING ANY NEW SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS.


Eligibility Requirements: Established by Dr. Genester S. Wilson-King as a memorial scholarship in favor of her daughter, who passed away in an automobile accident in New York City. The scholarship is for a student in either Eustis or Mount Dora High School to attend a public or private university. This scholarship focuses on community service and needs. Preference is given to students wishing to attend either Spielman or Morehouse Colleges.

  • Graduating senior from Mount Dora High or Eustis High School
  • Active in Community Service (verification necessary)
  • Emphasis on Extra Curricular activities
  • Academic achievement
  • Priority given to students seeking an education at Spelman or Morehouse College, however, will consider students seeking an education at any other public or private college or university.
